PVPOA Board of Director Changes,
Saturday, April 17th set as date for Annual Membership Meeting,
and an Opportunity for YOU to Run for a Vacant Seat on the Board
Posted January 18, 2021
After an over 50-year association with Peaceful Valley, Charlie Kinworthy, Jr. and his wife Mary have decided to sell their home to their son. With Charlie's parents still living at Peaceful Valley and now with their son as a homeowner, Charlie will certainly not be a stranger here in the future, but per our bylaws, he cannot continue as the President of our Board of Directors. Per our bylaws, our Vice-President Lorraine Andrysek will assume the role of President of the Board. She will serve in that appointed position until after our Annual Membership Meeting in April. We thank Charlie for his countless hours of volunteer service to Peaceful Valley and wish Charlie and Mary best wishes all the best and look forward to seeing them on a regular basis when they visit friends and family members here at the lake.
Speaking of the Annual Membership Meeting, we've scheduled it for Saturday, April 17th at 10 AM at the lodge. We understand that we may still be under COVID social gathering restrictions at that time so we're making contingency plans for a possible virtual meeting using Zoom. Fair warning--our pitifully slow internet speeds may not support a Zoom meeting of this magnitude, but stay tuned as we get closer for details.
Two of the principal orders of business that we must achieve, whether we meet in person or not, is approval of the budget for next year and election of 3 members to our Board of Directors. We had unprecedented voter turnout last year using our online voting tool, so we have made that a permanent option to go along with mail-in and in-person balloting.
Per our bylaws, members interested in being a candidate for the board must submit their application 60 days prior to our April 17th Annual Meeting--in other words, no later than February 17th. As of this writing, just over a left to accept candidates for our board of directors elections. As a reminder, PVPOA has 9 members on the board, each serving a 3-year term, with 3 board seats up for election each year. Per our bylaws, board members can only serve for 6 consecutive years, or a combination of an unexpired term plus a 3-year elected term. This coming year, we have the terms of Carol Eilermann, Kim Burkhardt, and Mark Martinez expiring. Of the three, Kim Burkhardt will be completing her sixth year and is ineligible to run for a seat, Carol and Mark are finishing up unexpired terms and will be eligible to run for a full term if they desire.
Board members are expected to attend board meetings on the third Friday of each month as well as the Annual Membership Meeting in April. In addition, board members are expected to participate on one or more committees, each chartered with duties designed to help run the day-to-day activities and planning of the Association. Keep in mind that we are basically a small town with more than 650 member families, 178 homes, a 180-acre lake, a lodge housing two business offices, two pools, a beach, campground, several park areas and two marinas. The board of directors provides the same services as an incorporated town’s board of aldermen.
Time commitments vary depending upon which committees you serve. For example, the committee overseeing maintenance spends 5-10 hours per week on activities, the office/administrative committee dealing with the business office spends 15-20 hours per week during the busy seasons and 5-10 in the off-season, while other committees such as the lake committee spends little or no time during the off-season, but quite a bit of time during the spring and summer.
If you would like to find out more, feel free to contact any of the current board members. Their contact information is available at https://www.peacefulvalleylake.com/board-of-directors--staff.html or stop by or contact the office at 573-437-2605 to get contact information for the board members.
If you already know that you’d like to run for a board seat, you can pick up a Board of Directors application from the office, or download it at

Peaceful Valley Member Handbook
Posted September 1, 2020
We've published an electronic version of the Peaceful Valley Property Owners' Association Member Handbook. The Handbook is a "one-stop shop" for members, containing a membership application, security information sheet, one copy each of our governing documents (Rules and Regulations, Bylaws, & Abstract of Restrictions), plus a history of Peaceful Valley. Even though targeted for new members to help them get started, we think existing members will find this handbook a useful reference to have on-hand, especially with the 2019 revision to the Bylaws and the 2020 updates to our Rules and Regulations. The history is enlightening, discussing the origins of the development along with some historical excerpts from the local papers discussing the lakes' development progress. You can download a copy by clicking here, or visit the following link: https://www.peacefulvalleylake.com/member-handbook.html
