All—an update on activities at Peaceful Valley
- If you don’t have your vehicle or boat stickers yet, it’s most likely that we do not have an updated security information sheet for you. This is the sheet that lists your immediate family members, vehicles, boats, etc.
- school summer break is winding down with area schools and universities starting back up next week. With the kids back in school, we usually reduce the hours the pool is open so check our website and social media pages for updates on opening and closing times.
- Next, we have several of the reflective address plates that still need to be picked up. If you have a house and a reflective address plate, we’ve verified with the Gasconade County E-911 office that the old black and white locator signs can be removed. The dispatch center mentioned that the subscription service that started that system is no longer in business.
- We’re suspending the movie and game nights until November.
- We’ve had a report that one of the swans seems particularly friendly and appears to beg for food. Please do not feed the swans or geese, but if you can’t resist, feed them lettuce, or cracked corn, but never any bread as it’s bad for their digestive system.
- We’re painting the fence around the tennis court and it’s being done in two steps, first is a primer coat and second will be flat black. The primer coat is complete, and we’ll start on the black finish coat shortly.

Address signs people pre-ordered have arrived at the Peaceful Valley office!
You can pick yours up at the lodge during business hours.

Heads Up, New Activity
at the Quarry
Posted July 22, 2022
Peaceful Valley neighbor, Capital Quarries Co., Inc., will begin surface mining in a new area north and east of the existing open quarry. That means there will be blasting and heavy machinery over the ridge from Villa Vista and Skyline Drives and Peaceful Valley Road. Operations will be conducted between Aug. 9 and Nov. 27, 2022.
Capital Quarries has met all legal requirements to open the new area. The PVPOA Board is letting you know so you will expect new activity, explosions and equipment sounds, from an unaccustomed direction.

Designated Cooling Center for Owensville is the Senior Center
Posted July 29, 2022
The past few weeks have been miserably hot and have pressed cooling systems to the max. If you need a break from the heat, the designated cooling center for Owensville is the Senior Center located at 214 N. 1st St. in Owensville. The center is open from 8 AM to 4 PM on weekdays. A mid-day meal is served Monday-Friday and consists of a hot entrée, side dishes, soup, dessert and coffee, tea, lemonade, or water. On Tuesdays and Thursdays, you can substitute a chef salad for the entrée. For those 60 or over the recommended meal donation is $5.00. If under 60, the recommended meal donation is $7.00. You do not have to partake if you're just there to cool off.
On Mondays the Senior Center has cash Bingo; Wednesdays and Fridays, and the 2nd & 4th Saturdays is Pinochle; and Thursday afternoon is a free matinee movie. There is no charge for the movie, Pinochle has a minimum buy-in which goes to the winner's pot, and bingo is $10 for a 10-game pad of 6 sheets per game, or $5 for a 3-sheet pad.
There's a pool table and indoor rummage sale as well, so if you need to come in to cool off, we have plenty for you to do.

![]() Security Gate Project
Capital Campaign Updated July 19, 2022 We're making steady progress as you can see from the thermometer. We're seeking $75,000 in voluntary donations to this campaign, rather than a special assessment. Why? Because we believe there are enough generous members out there that will want to contribute to this project -- in fact, we have at least one member who has pledged matching funds up to a limit to encourage others to join in. If every member contributed $125 to the project, or every homeowner $500, that will get us to where we need to be. What will this funding be used for? The good news is that we've already blocked access to most of the remote parts of the complex, so the funds will be used to modify the upper and lower entrances with two-way traffic gates, instead of single lane entry/exit we had originally designed. In addition, funds will be used to enhance the entryways with signage and landscaping to improve the aesthetics at both entrances. If you wish to contribute, please click here or use the Donate button at right or below to use a credit or debit card, or you can mail a check or stop by the business office (open 9-2, Monday through Thursday). We appreciate your consideration and any amount you can contribute is greatly appreciated. |
