Boating Rules on Peaceful Valley Lake
- All boats must be registered with the association using the security information form that was recently sent out with the annual dues, or they will not be allowed on the lake. After verifying ownership, two membership decals per boat or watercraft will be issued. These are to be affixed to both sides of the craft next to the membership numbers.
- All boats must be state registered in property owners name; said registration must accompany the boat.
- Only the boat(s) owned solely by the property owner, registered solely in the property owners name, may be brought onto the association property. Property owner(s) must accompany the boat. This also EXCLUDES any member of the immediate family from bringing a boat or boats owned by them or registered in their names on Association property.
- NO GUEST BOATS ARE ALLOWED ON THE LAKE OR IN PEACEFUL VALLEY LAKE ESTATES.
- Association membership numbers and current membership decals must be affixed on BOTH sides at the rear of the boat; minimum size of numbers is three (3) inches.
- All boats are required to operate in accordance with Coast Guard rules. This includes: (A) a Coast Guard-approved life jacket meeting for each person aboard, (B) paddles or oars, (C) operating lights in use after SUNDOWN, and (D) a fire extinguisher. Coast Guard regulations will apply. Boats containing “Heads” or “Galleys” are prohibited from use on the lake.
- The trailer and vehicle must be removed from the launching area after the boat has been launched.
- All motorboats must remain 100 feet from shore, except those actually engaged in fishing or docking.
- All boat traffic, including personal water craft, shall move in a counter-clockwise course. (Keep to the right.)
- Speed limits: Slow, no wake speed (5 MPH or less) in designated fishing area (southwest end of lake) and in coves and near the dam; Dead slow in Marina area; [NEW 2023] 40 MPH max speed in main channel; proceed at slow speed when within 100 feet of any shorelines with homes and docks; proceed at slow speed when within 50 feet of sailboats, rowboats, canoes, fisherman, and swimmers.
- Prohibited watercraft: Boats containing "heads" or "galleys" are prohibited from use on the lake; [NEW July 2021] Wake boats are considered any watercraft that can artificially create an enhanced wake through any means, including, but not limited to internal ballast tanks, external ballast bags, wake gates or plates, wave gates and/or tabs, and/or a hull designed for additional water displacement. No watercraft of this description are allowed to operate on the lake with the exception of those registered with the Association prior to July 19, 2021.
- [NEW 2023) Watercraft horesepower: 250 hp or less is recommended, not to exceed 300 hp.
- Boat right-of-way: (1) Sailboats, (2) Paddle boats, (3) Rowboats, (4) Canoes, (5) Pontoon Boats, (6) Fishing Boats, (7) Speed Boats, and (8) Wave Runners.
- No boats are permitted in the swimming area at the beach.
- Careless or reckless operation of boats is prohibited (this includes racing and excessive speed). The boat owner is responsible for damage caused by the boat or wake from the boat. - To maintain equality for every property owner, no boat shall be left for more than 48 hours on community property docks without being used. If an infraction occurs, the boat will be towed at the owner’s expense by an independent towing company and stored at the towing company’s storage area at the owner’s expense.
- WAVE RUNNER AND JET SKIS MUST BE OPERATED UNDER THE SAME RULES AS BOATS. THEY MUST BE STATE REGISTERED AND REGISTRATION MUST ACCOMPANY THE CRAFT.
- Current Missouri State boating regulations shall apply. EFFECTIVE 2007, ALL PERSONS 14-21 YEARS OF AGE, OPERATING ANY WATERCRAFT MUST POSSESS A MISSOURI BOATING SAFETY IDENTIFICATION CARD ISSUED BY THE MISSOURI STATE WATER PATROL You must have your certification card with you while on the water.
- Common areas that access the lake (I.E.) dam, beach, boat ramps, etc. are closed between 11:00 PM and 6:00 AM.
