Storage Yard Clean up 2017
Posted November 17 2017
It’s time again to clean out the storage yard. In the next few weeks, we’ll be contacting owners to validate their ownership of trailers, boats, campers, and other assorted materials that are being kept in the storage yard. The primary reason is that we’re running out of space, so it’s time to get rid of some of the stuff that’s been sitting up there for years.
Our goal is to eliminate the abandoned junk that’s taking up space so we can free it up for active members. About 2/3rds of the items have membership numbers on them, but given the age of some of the items, we’re not sure these things belong to the current owners with those numbers. Over the next several weeks we’re going to contact members about the items with their membership number affixed to verify that (1) it’s their property and (2) they wish to keep it in the lot. What we’ve found in the past is that some members have either forgotten that the item was there and no longer want it, or that it’s a previous owner’s property and they had no idea it was there.
For those items with no member numbers, we need to go through some legal notices (beginning with this newsletter), a website posting, and then publishing notice in the local paper to show we’ve made a good faith effort to locate the owners. If no one claims the items, we’ll sell it if it has value, or scrap it if it doesn’t. Stay tuned for further details on the website, and for those of you that have items in the lot, expect to see a letter in the near future.
